The first beginnings of the development, manufacturing and marketing of the electro mechanic and telecommunication equipment go back to 1948, when the Iskra Kranj company was established. Through various organisational forms the development and production of the telecommunication equipment, in co-operation with a number of leading global manufacturers, has remained in contact with global trends of this industrial branch. In 1989, the core activity separated and joined the new joint-venture company of Iskratel and some Slovene shareholders. Iskratel, with over 1000 employees, is a successful company with stable growth, always quick to respond to the changing requirements of the market.
High-technology equipment and expertise of the employees of the Iskratel manufacturing operations, along with the world trends in the electronics branch, have dictated the necessity for further development and expansion of manufacturing operations in the field of electronics outside the company. Thus, after thorough preliminary analyses and simulations in 2000 and following the resolution of the Committee, a new subsidiary, Iskratel Electronics, was established on 1 January 2001. The new company is to 100% owned by Iskratel and has approximately 300 employees.
